Good Morning Linda,
Joe & I had a fabulous time in Bermuda last week! The weather was Bermudaful, as you would say- sunny and warm every day we were there. Ivan met us at the airport, and whisked us off to the Pink Beach Club. The resort was very lovely, and our room was very nice, with a gorgeous view of the beach and that beautiful turquoise water. We loved it there. There were only a handful of other couples there, as I guess their season hadn't quite started yet, so we had the place to ourselves! We did meet some very nice folks there. The breakfasts by the pool were scrumpious, and the 5 course dinners at nite were really quite fabulous. I am a gourmet cook, so really appreciated the varieties of food, preparations, and presentations. Afternoon tea was also quite a nice treat. Ivan gave us a wonderful tour of the eastern half of the Island. He is so knowledgeable, interesting, and delightful to be around. Joe really appreciated all of the history he included with his tour, which was all so fascinating. He included a special trip to the St David's lighthouse for me, a stop at the Lily Perfumery in St George where we purchased some fine fragrances, and the reenactment of the dunking of the town nag and gossip by the St.George Town Crier which was quite entertaining! He also made several extra stops at a pharmacy, a liquor store, and another resort we wanted to check out ( Coco Reef ), and the Botanical gardens. The gal at the desk at our resort said that he is one of the best tour guides in all of Bermuda. I feel so fortunate that you introduced us to him. We enjoyed the beach, the Navy Dockyard Museum and Dolphin Quest, the Marine Museum, and of course some shopping in Hamilton. It all went too fast, so we are definitely going back again! We may try a resort close to a bigger beach where it's easier to swim and snorkel next time, tho we would miss the seclusion and ambiance of the Pink Beach Club.
Again, thank you so much for helping me plan this wonderful trip for us. We really celebrated Joe's big birthday in style!
Roberta

THE FAIRMONT HAMILTON PRINCESS
CELEBRATES 125TH ANNIVERSARY
Bermuda’s Pink Palace Announces a Year of Celebration,
Including Memorabilia Search and Grand Gala
BERMUDA, January 21, 2010 – This year The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Bermuda’s Pink Palace, will celebrate its 125th anniversary. Since 1885, the hotel has been a landmark on the island and with its rich history, from the Victorian era and the birth of tourism on the island through World War II and into today, is part of Bermuda’s cultural heritage. From community events and historic tours to weekend packages and restaurant offers to a year-long search for hotel memorabilia, the hotel will celebrate this milestone in grand style. The year long celebration will culminate with a grand gala and memorabilia display in October.
“This is an exciting time in our history,” said Jon Crellin, general manager of the hotel. “We have enjoyed a significant investment in our property and on the heels of renovation are able to share our celebration with Bermudians and visitors alike. This will be a year long celebration with a variety of activities and ways for individuals to become part of it and we hope that we’re part of our guests’ celebrations as well.
“We know that both on-island and off, there are a number of pieces of memorabilia that have become personal treasures and wonderful memories,” continued Mr. Crellin. “We’re very excited to see what Princess memorabilia we’ll be able to gather. We’ll begin collecting now, and the search will culminate in fall with a historic exhibit and reception for those who contribute. Full amnesty, and an invitation to the party, will be provided to everyone who shares their ‘borrowed’ item and following the exhibit we will return everything.”
From silver and china to historic photographs and postcards to glassware and art, the memorabilia search will officially begin today. Guests and island residents are asked to send any pieces to the attention of the Sales Office. Those with submissions should include their name and contact details, as well as fun stories or anecdotes about the provenance of the piece.

One of the things, among many, that I love about Bermuda is the hospitality. Bermudians are full of charm and friendliness. Where else in the world do men wear shorts with sports jackets to work? You gotta wonder with that kind of dress for work that there is a very warm and friendly person wearing those shorts.
Get into any taxi and you are riding with a charming ambassador just waiting to share wonderful information about the island. Enjoy a friendly smile when you are greeted by the wonderful people that make Bermuda Hospitality their career. Bermuda is so happy about the excellence of the hospitality industry that they even have an awards event every year. The VIP awards recognizes each year the superstars that welcome Bermuda visitors with their absolute best! And their best is just who they are!!!
The ultimate friendliness ambassador of Bermuda is for sure Johnny Barnes. Johnny stands at the Foot of the Lane round about in Hamilton from 5am - 10am greeting all the rush hour travelers with smiles, kisses and waves as they pass him by. Johnny is aclaimed as the "World's Friendliest Man" and he even has a bronze stature in his honor standing not to far from his morning post, so you can still see his smiling face when he is not "on duty". Imagine seeing this every morning? Sure to put a smile on your face!

Truly there is an option for every budget, desire and level of dining! Did you know there is actually a KFC in Bermuda??? Not that I recommend you go as there are so many other great options! The newest one on the scene is a luxurious eaterie at the newly renovated Port Royal Golf Club, 64 Degrees. Opening end of November it is part of Claudio Vigilante's fabulous Fresco's Group. Featuring innovative cuisine it is sure to be high quality for an affordable price. Chef Troy Smith is brilliant in his creativity! Be sure to check out 64 Degrees at Port Royal Golf Club!
